SPRAVATO® Therapy

SPRAVATO® is an NMDA receptor antagonist believed to work differently from traditional antidepressants by acting on glutamate.

While the exact role of glutamate in depression is unknown, it is a chemical messenger found in the brain that is thought to help regulate depression.

SPRAVATO® is a nasal spray you self-administer under the supervision of a healthcare provider. SPRAVATO® can be taken with or without an oral antidepressant.

After you take SPRAVATO®, a healthcare provider will monitor you for at least two hours during the observation period for possible serious side effects, including feeling sleepy (sedation or loss of consciousness), feeling disconnected from yourself, your thoughts, feelings and things around you (dissociation), breathing problems (respiratory depression and respiratory arrest) and increased blood pressure.
